This is part two of a two part series introducing the Public Cave Survey Database.  To read part one first, click here.

How do I submit data?

We are currently only accepting data submissions through email. If the database proves to be successful, we will work towards a better system for uploading and managing the survey data.

Step One:

Export your data as a KML or KMZ file using your survey software.

Your survey data must be attached to the correct GPS point. The GPS point should be as close as possible to the dripline of the cave.

Step Two:

Attach the KML or KMZ file to your data submission email and fill out the following form:

Cave system:
Name of cave entrance at GPS point:
Country, State/Province of the cave:

An example of what the filled out form looks like is as follows:

Name of cave entrance at GPS point: Cenote Carwash
Country, State/Province of the cave: Quintana Roo, Mexico
Surveyed by (optional): Rory O’Keefe
Is the cave open to the public?: Yes, with entrance fee.

Step Three:

Send your data to: info@surveydown.com

Please use an active email address so that we can contact you if we encounter any problems with your data submission.

How do I view the database?

We will email you a copy of the current database file once your contribution has been entered. You will also receive the monthly update file for the month in which you contributed data.
